Tribute to the Very Rev. Peter Moore
Anglican Leadership Institute Session 8 of September 2019 was one of the best events of my entire ministry. It is still vibrating in my memory, all particularly because of my periods of interaction with Very Rev Dr Peter Moore.
My first encounter with Peter was on 4th September, 2019 when I arrived Martha's Vineyard for ALI # 8.I had already settled down in a room assigned to me, when thereafter I went for dinner where I met Peter and Sandra, his wife. When Peter discovered that I was put in a wrong room, he insisted I must go to the right room, despite my resistance due to the inconveniences it would cost. Together with Sandra ,they used their car to convey my luggage to the new room in a different location of the camp. I was surprised to see an elderly man helping me to personally carry my luggage, even when I pleaded with him not to do so. Peter demonstrated servant leadership at all times.
In course of the session, I had moments of interactions with Peter. Before coming to ALI#8, I was in deep thoughts on how to devise a vision and pathway for my Church and ministry, until I met Peter. We sat through sessions of interactions. We did not only arrive at an inspiring vision and pathway, but a definite touch on my life and ministry, which is still evident today.
Peter was humble, down to earth, very knowledgeable and easily approachable. We pray for the consolation of the Holy Spirit on Mama Sandra. She made my stay in Martha's Vineyard very memorable. When I was down with cold and insect bite, she assisted me with the required clothing and medication.
We will really miss Peter for indeed he was a true soldier of the cross who imparted on all who came near him.
